After the increase of the annual maximum savings limit on Individual Savings Accounts (ISA’s) to £11,280, which was announced earlier this year, Shepherds Friendly has more good news concerning our Stocks and Shares ISA.

This is to do with the amount that you can additionally deposit into your ISA in a single lump sum, once the ISA has been opened, which up until now has been a minimum of £500. However effective from now on is a lower limit of £100, which means that making that deposit into the account is far less demanding on your personal finances. We realise that at this testing time, saving little and often is more realistic for most, and this lower limit lends itself to this.

ISA’s are a great way of saving, and everyone over the age of 18 can invest in a Shepherds Stocks and Shares ISA, provided you live in the UK and are ordinarily resident here for tax purposes. You can invest regular monthly premiums, minimum £30 a month, and/or lump-sum investments from a minimum £500 initially and £100 at a time thereafter, to your Stocks and Shares ISA as long as the amount does not exceed the limit for the particular tax year.

For parents, Shepherds also offers a tax-efficient Junior ISA (JISA), which has a maximum limit of £3600 for those looking to save for their child’s future. The deposit limit on JISA’s remains that same, and you can save from just £10 per month or in lump sums of just £100, in order to build a really useful tax-free sum for when they are 18.
