Staff enjoy a day of volunteering at Seashell Trust

Thursday 30th March saw five members of staff head down to our chosen charity Seashell Trust to hand out Easter eggs to the students and help out with gardening at the centre.

Holly, Claire, Matt and Liam helped with weeding and generally tidying up the gardens at the trust, while Antony was a huge hit dressed as the Easter bunny giving out Easter eggs to the students.

Antony, Head of Sales at Shepherds Friendly, said:

“It’s great to be able to visit the centre and see the effect that our fundraising efforts have on improving students’ lives.

“The charity does fantastic work in helping students, and to be able to raise money that helps them do this is fantastic for everyone at Shepherds Friendly”.

We have been raising money for Seashell Trust now since 2014, and since the partnership began we have managed to raise over £3,500 through monthly staff donations and fundraising events.

Our previous donations have helped contribute to the development of a wildlife garden, helping students learn about the natural environment, alongside funding equipment for the playground.

Dominic Tinner, Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Community Development at Seashell Trust, commented:

“The children loved the Easter Bunny and of course the chocolate went down well.   The team then spent a couple of hours tidying up the pathways for us which now look fantastic.

“In 2016 we had a staggering 1,052 corporate volunteers equating to a total value of £86,545 in salary savings. So thanks to everyone who gave up their time for us, it means a great deal”.

Seashell Trust is a charity based just down the road from our head office in Cheadle, offering education and care to children and young adults with complex learning difficulties all across the country.
