Shepherds Friendly has retained the Green Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation for a second year. This is the highest level awarded by the national scheme that helps organisations set their environmental ambitions, take action, and get recognition.

Since first joining the iiE scheme in 2022, we’ve made steady progress to Bronze then Silver levels. In 2024, we achieved Green for the first time. But keeping up this standard requires continuous action, innovation, and monitoring.

This achievement recognises the progress we’ve made in several key areas, including:

  • Having a clear environmental policy that outlines our commitment to reducing our impact.
  • Creating detailed action plans to help reduce energy and resource use.
  • Encouraging colleagues to get involved in a wide range of sustainability activities. These range from local litter picks to recycling crisp packets to help people who are homeless through Macclesfield Crisp Blankets

We’re always looking for new ways to do better for the planet, and we’re looking forward to making further improvements in the year ahead.

Nasrin Hossain, Director of People & Culture, said:

“Sustainability is a long-term journey, and it’s something all our people have a part to play in. Retaining our Green level accreditation for a second year shows that we’re not only meeting high standards, we’re keeping them, and embedding them into the way we work.”

Alongside this, we work with ClimatePartner to measure, reduce, and offset our carbon emissions. Through this partnership, we support certified climate action projects around the world.
