Exceptional dining experiences needn’t cost a packet. Instead, pack up a picnic for a fraction of the expense of a restaurant, and head out to enjoy it where you can watch the sunset. Perhaps the beach, or a secluded beauty spot with a view.
Go in Tandem
For a fun way to get out together, hire a tandem bike and head off on your own adventure. Alternatively, if you’re a little more competitive, then having your own set of wheels and going for a simple bike ride will do. And with plenty of excellent trails in England, Scotland, and Wales, you’re spoilt for choice on where to go.
Bargain Hunting Bonanza
If you want a little spending spree for date night without breaking the bank, then it’s time to get thrifty and nifty. Set yourselves a challenge or a goal and head out to the charity shops. You’ll be amazed at what you can find, and how much fun you can have. Try ‘collect a tea set’, ‘dress from the 70s’, or ‘build a library’, and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed with your buys.
Give, Don’t Take
A valuable and rewarding option for a date night with a difference is to volunteer together. Build bonds over shared experiences, and give your relationship a ‘feel good’ kick by giving your time where it’s needed. There are plenty of different ways to give a little time to a worthy cause. Head to the Museum
Thanks to lottery funding, and a passion for the arts and our collective heritage, we’re lucky to have free access to a range of museums and galleries. Check out what’s free in your local area and then head on down together. We particularly like the National Football Museum (Manchester), Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (Glasgow), V&A Museum of Childhood (London), St Fagan’s National History Museum (Cardiff), The Royal Armouries (Leeds), and Falmouth Art Gallery (Cornwall).
Pamper and Preen
We all love a bit of pampering, but head out to a spa and you’re going to lose the relaxed feeling the moment you pay the bill. Instead, create your own home spa experience with low lighting, fragranced oils, and gentle music.
Think Outside the Box
If you’ve not yet experienced the fun that board games can bring to your relationship, then it’s time to turn the tables. We’re not talking the boring Sunday afternoons of childhood, rather great fun in a brilliant location where you can try a range of the nations favourite games. Board game cafes are springing up around the country, and they don’t cost much. Head to Draughts of London, the very first in the country, The Crown in Hastings, Thirsty Meeples in Oxford, or Noughts and Coffees in Edinburgh.
Take to the Water
Even if swimming isn’t your thing (although it can be great fun for a date with a difference), then hunt down one of many places around the country to hire a rowing boat, pedalo, or even a canoe. You can be sure of plenty of giggles and a hefty dose of fun.
